titles below.
1. 'Longing' is about the yearning
for a deep romantic relationship before it has actually begun. It represents
hope over experience. The experience of maturity may suggest that the idea
of a passionate and enduring romantic attachment may be an illusion, but
the hope of finding it continues to linger wistfully in the background
of one's thoughts and feelings. It is a dark shadow longing to be dispelled
by the light. (6:22)
2. 'The Chase' is about the pursuit
of love. You meet someone, and see the possibility of a romantic attachment.
You pursue it, but it may be elusive - at least for a while. There is a
restless ache of yearning as the new focus of your romantic imagination
seems to recede as you try to get closer. You wonder whether the strategy
of your pursuit is the right one. Are you making a fool of yourself? Have
you blown your chances by appearing too eager; too ardent? Suddenly you
have become self-conscious again - something you thought you had left behind
when you emerged from adolescence. You become awkward and uncertain. Perhaps
your feelings will not be reciprocated. But you are compelled to continue
the pursuit. (4:53)
3. 'Together' reflects the joyous,
spring-in-the-step feeling of being in the company of a new-found love.
Everything takes on a new perspective. Suddenly everything and anything
is possible. All experience is heightened through having found someone
to share it with. (3:11)
4. 'Doubt' is about the undermining of passion by
negative thoughts and perceptions, or by circumstances that intervene to
disrupt the relationship. The exhilaration of the initial romantic encounter
gives way to doubt. Suddenly there are second thoughts. You realise that
there is a lot you do not know about your new love, whose previous existence
begins to interfere. The past, in the form of previous and ongoing attachments,
and the habits and values of a lifetime, begin to raise questions about
compatibility. There may be jealousy, because you cannot possess or wipe
away the other's past life - that part of their life which has been lived
without you. (4:50)
5. In 'Dreaming', you have returned
to the state of wistful imaginings. You have tasted passion, or at least
the promise of it, and caught a glimpse of how things could be in an ideal
world, where one's passion is reciprocated and there is someone with whom
to share experience. But will it become a reality, or is it just wishful
thinking on your part? (5:36)
6. In 'Fusion', things finally start to come together.
Different and apparently opposing ideas, tastes, perceptions and values
rub against each other before they begin to interweave. Thesis and antithesis
meet to create a new symbiosis. Two separate halves come together to form
a whole. Bodies and souls entwine. Contradictions are reconciled and recognised
as complementary aspects of a dynamic relationship. (7:40)
7. 'The Promise' is about making a commitment to one
another. You believe that you are meant for each other and the time comes
when you both have to realise the responsibilities that this brings with
it. The mood is essentially solemn, as a sacred vow must be. (6:45)
8. In 'Apart', the love you have
for each other has become mutual and secure, but circumstances may force
a temporary parting of the ways. The days and nights yawn endlessly in
a melancholy void until you are reunited with the one that completes your
existence; the one without whom you are only half a person. (5:56)
9. 'The Betrothal' says everything in its title. Two
souls are formally joined together in the eyes of the world. It may be
through the traditional wedding ceremony, or in a ritual of their own making.
(4:37)
10. 'Coming
Home' represents the relationship coming to
maturity. If the union is blessed, the intense passion gives way to a more
settled form of contentment. The restlessness and the pain and the ecstasy of passion are replaced by a more steady and subdued source of pleasure.
You have become comfortable with each other, and there is an enduring feeling
of tenderness between you. (5:34)
